Privacy policy
This explains what personal information we collect when you use our website, book a table or get in touch, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Who we are
Coast Birkdale is run by Birkdale Wine & Dine Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 14470848), with its registered office at 51 Weld Road, Southport PR8 2DS. Our venue is at 51 Weld Road, Birkdale, Southport PR8 2DS.
We are the data controller for the personal information described here. If you have any questions, email contact@coastbirkdale.com or call 01704 331 333.
What we collect and why
Table bookings
When you book a table, our reservations partner SevenRooms collects your name, email address, phone number, the date, time and size of your booking, and anything you choose to tell us, such as allergies, dietary needs or a special occasion. We use this to manage your booking, contact you about it and prepare for your visit. If you tell us about an allergy, we use it only to keep you safe while you dine with us.
If you agree to it when booking, we may also send you news and offers. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, or by contacting us.
The legal basis is that we need this information to provide the booking you asked for, and, for marketing, your consent. Information about allergies is health information, which we use with your explicit consent so we can cater for you.
Contacting us
If you email, phone or message us on social media, we use your details to reply and to help with your enquiry. We keep these messages for as long as we need to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up.
Private events
Enquiries and bookings for The Cliff are handled through its own website, thecliffbirkdale.co.uk, which has its own privacy information.
Visiting our website
We measure how many people visit our website and which pages they look at, so we can improve it. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics for this. It does not use cookies, does not track you across other websites and does not identify you personally.
Cookies
Our own website does not set cookies. Some features are provided by other companies and only load when you use them:
- Booking a table. When you tap "Book a table", the SevenRooms booking window opens. SevenRooms may use cookies needed to complete your booking.
- The map. The Google map in "Find us" only loads when you tap "Show the map". Google may then set its own cookies.
You can also control cookies in your browser settings.
Other companies we work with
We only share your information with companies that help us run our business, and only what they need. They include:
- SevenRooms for table bookings and guest records.
- Cloudflare to host this website and provide privacy-friendly visitor statistics.
- Behold to show our latest Instagram posts on this website.
- Open-Meteo to show the current weather in Birkdale. Your browser asks it for the weather directly, and it receives your IP address but no other details.
- Google for the map, if you choose to show it.
Some of these companies may process information outside the UK. Where they do, they use legal safeguards approved under UK data protection law. We never sell your personal information.
How long we keep it
We keep booking records for as long as we need them to run our business and meet our legal and accounting duties, usually no more than three years after your last visit. Marketing records are kept until you unsubscribe.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- correct information that is wrong or incomplete
- delete your information, where we no longer need it
- restrict or object to how we use it
- stop sending you marketing, at any time
- withdraw your consent, where we rely on it
To do any of these, email contact@coastbirkdale.com. We will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
